The Topic
Today I’m going to be talking about the charity Joining Jack, a charity that is very close to the heart of everybody at ADMThe directors and staff all contribute to help raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for Duchenne Muscular DystrophyThe charity was created in May 2012 and has grown rapidly over the past 3 years. With the help of ADM, Joining Jack has created its own range of personalised clothing ranging from T-shirts, polo shirts, and hoodies. Other merchandise such as phone cases and wristbands have also been designed and sold via the online shop hosted by ADM.
The Joining Jack logo was designed by Stuart Green of BD2 studios who also created the internationally recognisable #jjsalute. Bradley Wiggins famously did the #jjsalute on the winners podium as he was confirmed Tour De France champion in 2013. Many other sports stars and celebrities have shown their support to the charity Joining Jack. Pictured left you’ll see World Cup Rugby Union Winner Jonny Wilkinson, soon to return Wigan Warriors Rugby league player Sam Tomkins and even Ant & Dec!

The Disease
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a devastating and currently incurable muscle-wasting disease with approximately one in every 3,500 boys worldwide afflicted with DMD with 20,000 new cases reported each year in the developed world.

Jack
Jack was diagnosed with DMD in October 2011 at the very young age of 4 years old. Now he is a fun-loving 7 year old boy who loves to play with his younger brother James, in fact just the other day they were both here in the office playing with their toy bow and arrows shooting them everywhere!

Family
What makes Joining Jack so special is the fact that it’s run by Jack’s Parents, Andy and his wife Alex. Andy is an ex-professional rugby player that started at the age of 17 for his home rugby league club Wigan Warriors, after that he played for a variety of teams including London Broncos, Castleford and Salford. His new focus is in raising awareness and money in order to find a treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and, together with his wife Alex of 8 years and a dedicated group of friends from the Rugby League community and beyond, he is doing just that.

Old (left) vs New (right)

Since the New Year our main focus has been the reinvestment into the new ADM Direct website, the project has led to revamping the main website, the existing online shop and developing the Kit Designer website which will be coming soon, we have been working very closely with our web design company Magnetize.

The current website, www.admdirect.co.uk, is going to be catalogue based, we’re adding some extra features and refreshing it entirely, improving the way it works and increasing the customer experience for when they’re browsing our range of customised leisurewear. This site is for everyone, you can choose from 1000’s of products, selecting the sizes, colours and styles to suit your needs. Are paperback catalogues a thing of the past? We believe that online catalogues such as ours are more relevant to the times that we’re in as shopping online is becoming an everyday, more frequent and convenient thing. Comment below whether you still use the paperback catalogue or if you too think ordering online is preferential.

Our online Club Shop, after 5 years, is being enhanced, we were one of the first to introduce the online Club Shop feature into the customised leisurewear market. This site over the years has been very popular for rugby clubs, football clubs, colleges and private schools. The design features and functionality have been made so that personalised clothing is easier to order.

Our brand new ADM Kit Designer website is what we’re really looking forward to but most importantly we can’t wait for customers to see it, the Kit Designer is a website that enables customers to design their own sports kits and their own range of leisurewear, starting with the garment they wish to have and then onto the logos etc. This is going to be really effective as it will have a realistic look enabling customers to have a more detailed view of what their finished product will look like, as well as making it that extra bit personal too.

With social media being an essential part of people’s lives now, we’ve decided that we’re going to be changing some things around, starting with a new Facebook page, a more active Twitter account, our first Instagram page and this brand new blog! The social media side of the business is ran by myself, Chelsea.

Improving the face of your business is the key to moving forward and change is exactly what we need and we’re excited for the future here at ADM. And people will be able to see all of the changes we have made in late spring/early summer time, we’re so excited so keep your eyes peeled!
